Feedback from Learner on Step in to Work Programme:

Hi Steve, just a quick message want to say thanks for all the help and support, you and the staff at City College have given me, thanks for keeping me motivated into finding a job.  I hope you keep doing what you do best and help others into work like me. I am now working and recently been promoted, something 10 months ago I would never have thought of, once again thanks. Jason Elce.

Case Study for 19 year old Lukasz Reszczynski:

What is the background to the story? Lukasz was referred over to see me by one his friends who I had helped into work. He was working on a “0” hours contract within the Hospitality sector and did not know from week to week what hours he was going to receive. He said he was very un-happy and felt he was not being treated fairly and that they were looking to dismiss him shortly. He stated he felt very pressurised there and needed to get out.
Outline of support provided through Nottm Works Activity:

We had a discussion around the sort of work he was looking for and his main strengths, he stated, as he drove he would be willing to work in a warehouse or preferably in some form of Business admin role. I had recently formed a working relationship with Blue Arrow on Friar lane, who had informed me that they were looking for a number of warehouse staff at DHL in Langley Mill. Whilst Lukasz was with me, I called them and arranged for him to go and see them regarding this vacancy and gave them a brief overview of his skill sets and type of work he was looking for.

Whilst Lukasz was with me, I called them and arranged for him to go and see them regarding this vacancy. The appointment was arranged for the following day. He duly attended the meeting with them

What was the outcome? Lukasz contacted me the following day, very excited and happy, he informed me that they had offered him a Business admin position with DHL in Langley Mill and that he could start the following week. He stated he had given in his notice and would be starting there on 13/7/16.

I contacted him a couple of weeks after he had started and asked him how the job was going, he said” really good” and thanked me for the support I had given him, he also sent via text the message below,

“Hi Steve, job really fitts me. This is exactly what I was looking for. Doing well and they are happy with me I guess;) Thanks a lot one more time. Of course, feel free to send it. I’m really glad I could get this support.”
