    General Route

    This course is for anyone who sees their future career in IT or computing the Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT is an excellent starting point. This course is very practical with plenty of opportunities to implement the theory that you learn. The course covers a wide range of computing topics to allow you to experience the full breadth of the world of computing, helping you to identify areas of interest and your future specialism’s.

This course combines the artistic and creative aspects of animation. During your time on the course you will develop a wide range of skills and techniques in a number of animation styles including Stop-Motion, Digital Character Animation, Motion Graphics and Visual / Special Effects.  The course aims to prepare you for progression into higher education and employment.

    The Level 3 Diploma in Interactive Media gives you the opportunity to explore a career in the exciting interactive digital industry. This diverse and creative course enables you to not only develop software skills but also the problem solving skills you need to succeed in this digital environment.

    Entry Requirements

    Due to eligibility restrictions, potential learners must be UK resident and aged 19 or over to be able to enrol onto this course

    You should have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Mathematics and English Language. Alternatively you should have passed Level 2 Diploma in IT with at least a Merit grade and GCSE passes in English Language and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.

    All applicants will be interviewed by the Course Leader to establish suitability, and to ensure that prospective learners will be able to meet the academic and attendance requirements of the course, and to establish any additional support needs.

     

    Assessment & Achievements

    All units are assessed through a variety of methods culminating in the building of a portfolio of evidence containing written assignments, presentations, and other evidence.  The portfolio is supported by a number of examinations, which are set and marked by the Awarding Body.  Assignments are staged throughout the duration of the course via an Assessment Plan.  Portfolio’s are internally assessed and internally moderated by City College Nottingham, and then externally moderated.

    Assessment will be a mixture of:

    • build and complete a portfolio of work
    • practical assessments in treatments
    • assignment writing
    • theory exams

     

    Length of Course

    This course is a full time, taught programme, over 2 days/week for 18 months, however, in addition to attendance in class, learners are expected to devote enough additional time as necessary for self-study, research and assignment writing, in order to complete the course successfully.

    Classes commence in September and January (dependent on numbers)

     

    Attendance Requirements

    Learners must achieve an attendance record of 85% over the duration of the course. Learners who miss any of their normal timetabled sessions will be expected to attend additional sessions (which may be with a different Tutor), to make up for lost learning hours. Learners who do not meet the attendance requirements will not be allowed to complete final assessment which leads to certification.

     

    Funding &  19+ Learning Loans

    • Employment in IT Industry
    • Diploma in IT Level 4

    This course provides you with an excellent route to enter a career in the IT industry or Higher Education. You will gain knowledge of a range of areas, including project Planning with IT, Website Production, Systems Security, web development, Computer Game Design and 2D Animation. You will also gain a background understanding of computer and information systems as well as many other practical skills.
