Do you need a maths or English qualification to improve your CV, get into college/further education or improve your chances of getting a job? If so, City College can help you gain the skills you need to obtain a nationally recognised qualification.
Whether you need maths, English or both, these FREE courses can be completed in just 30 weeks. We can also offer extra support and classes if you require.
Functional Skills Level 1 and Level 2 available.

Functional Skills in English &/or Maths
No entry requirements however a good understanding of Maths & English is required but support throughout the course can be given.
You must have a keen and enthusiastic attitude to work and learn.
You will be required to complete the college’s initial assessments in Maths and English
Assessment & Achievements
All units are assessed through a variety of methods culminating in the building of a portfolio of evidence containing written assignments, presentations, and other evidence. The portfolio is supported by a number of tests, which are set and marked by the Awarding Body. Assignments are staged throughout the duration of the course via an Assessment Plan. Portfolio’s are internally assessed and internally moderated by City College Nottingham, and then externally moderated
Length of Course
This course is delivered over 30 weeks, however, in addition to attendance in class, learners are expected to devote enough additional time as necessary for self-study, research and assignment writing, in order to complete the course successfully.

You will be required to attend 2 evenings a week between 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
1 day a week, for 4 hours

Free for anyone aged between 16-18
Free for any eligible candidates who do not have GCSE English/Maths or who have GCSE English/Maths score D or below, or has already completed and obtained a Functional skills qualification under the level they would like.
For candidates who are not eligible for fee remission, the cost will be £350 for each qualification.
