    Why not start a new career/or interest, have you any DIY projects coming up that you need more knowledge on?
    This course can help you. Always seen yourself as a bit of a handyperson? Want to save money on jobs around the
    house? Have you got any interest in construction that you want to explore further? Consider the possibility
    of a new career? Need a new hobby? Come and gain new skills to boost your career opportunities or save on building and maintenance costs in your home with our short and affordable part time courses.

    We have 2 options available (evening classes):

    • College Certified – Duration: 10 weeks. You will receive a college certification.
    • CITB/CSkills Certified – Duration 12 weeks. You will receive an accredited certification from CITB/CSkills

    Description

    Bricklaying
    Learn how to construct garden walls incorporating
    panels, Decorative Features, Jointing Techniques and
    Gate Pillars using different bonds.
    Plastering
    Learn how to prepare walls/ceilings and how to fix
    plasterboards using dry lining method to solid and
    timber stud walls & ceilings, fixing and positioning
    angle beads, taping joints, applying plaster finish.
    Painting and Decorating
    Learn how to prepare surfaces and hang all types
    of wall papers, ( patterned, woodchip) to walls and
    ceilings, apply different types of emulsion & colours
    using a brush and a roller.
    Carpentry and Joinery
    By the end of the course you will be able to:
    Construct three basic joints, fit hinges to door/frame
    Wall Tiling
    Learn how to prepare surface and tile
    around a bath and sink
    Plumbing (none accredited)
    Learn the very basics about materials used

    Entry Level 1

    Entry Requirements

    No entry requirements, just a keen and enthusiastic approach to work and learn . To successfully complete the full accredited qualification (12 weeks) it is necessary for you to achieve 90% attendance.

     

    When does the course start?

    Class 1:  2nd October – 19th December

    Class 2: 8th January – 26th March

    Class 3: 9th April – 25th June

     

    Costs

    • College Certified – Duration: 10 weeks. You will receive a college certification. Total cost: £250

     

    • CITB/CSkills Certified – Duration 12 weeks. You will receive an accredited certification from CITB/CSkills. Total cost: £450 (Not available for plumbing)

    The cost can be split over the course duration, please contact us to discuss further.

    Equipment and materials are provided free of charge, however, should you wish to pursue your learning in more depth, you may be advised to purchase one or more text books from a recommended reading list.

    **Purchase of appropriate protective clothing and industry safety footwear is a requirement of the course.
