This qualification will enable you to improving the appearance of the hands and feet with basic manicure and pedicure techniques, you will also learn how to provide relaxing head massage treatments, cleansing, toning and moisturising treatments, and you will learn how to give advice on skin care, and basic day make-up application.
To further enhance your skills you will also cover artistic and creative elements on your course such as nail art, themed face painting and photographic make-up.
To underpin this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety and you will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the skills required to support you in the beauty therapy industry such as salon reception duties, retail displays and working with others.

Diploma Level 1 or 2 in Beauty Therapy
No entry requirements however a good understanding of Maths & English is required but support throughout the course can be given. You will need to complete either Functional Skills or GCSE maths & English if you haven’t obtained a grade C or above at GCSE.
A*-D GCSE’s in Maths and English would be desirable but aren’t essential.
You must have a keen and enthusiastic attitude to work ad learn.
You will be required to complete the college’s initial assessments in Maths and English
For candidates aged 16-18 years old
Assessment & Achievements
All units are assessed through a variety of methods culminating in the building of a portfolio of evidence containing written assignments, presentations, and other evidence. The portfolio is supported by a number of tests, which are set and marked by the Awarding Body. Assignments are staged throughout the duration of the course via an Assessment Plan. Portfolio’s are internally assessed and internally moderated by City College Nottingham, and then externally moderated by Ascentis
Length of Course
This course is a full time, college taught programme, over 2 days/week for one academic year (ie 3 terms), however, in addition to attendance in class, learners are expected to devote enough additional time as necessary for self-study, research and assignment writing, in order to complete the course successfully.

Classes commence in September
Learners must achieve an attendance record of 85% over the duration of the course. Learners who miss any of their normal timetabled sessions will be expected to attend additional sessions (which may be with a different Tutor), to make up for lost learning hours. Learners who do not meet the attendance requirements will not be allowed to complete final assessment which leads to certification.
