Personal Learning & Thinking
You would need to be employed for 30 hours/week to complete an apprenticeship but City College’s Employer Engagement team can help you find an employer if you are not already employed.
A*-D GCSE’s in Maths and English would be desirable, but they aren’t essential as functional skills can be completed alongside the apprenticeship.
Employers aren’t expecting you to have experience that is what an apprenticeship is for but you must have a keen and enthusiastic attitude to work.
You will also be required to complete the college’s initial assessments in Maths & English
Depending on your experience, previous qualifications and your role, will depend what level qualification you can start on.
How is the training delivered?
This apprenticeship is work based learning, therefore you will not need to attend college. Your employer will give you time within the working week to complete tasks set you by the assessor but you will also be required to spend time at home to research and complete assignments (individual learning) if not completed in the allocated time the employer has given you.
Level 2 apprenticeships – 12 months
You can start an apprenticeship at any point during the year
There is no cost to the apprentice to be on the apprenticeship; in fact you will be paid by your employer. The national minimum wage for an apprentice is £3.50 but this could increase throughout your apprenticeship/employment. All training costs are paid for by funding from the government
All apprenticeship have the potential of a permanent position at the apprenticeship depending on your time keeping, reliability and commitment to the role or you could progress onto a level 3 apprenticeship or any other higher level qualifications.
