City College Nottingham offers a range of further education and vocational fashion courses. These courses are ideal if pursuing a career in the fashion industry, preparing for university or expanding on current skills.. Courses cover all skill levels in pattern cutting, manufacturing and design.
City College offers BTEC fashion courses at levels 1,2 and 3.
Next BTEC Level 3 course is starting in September 2016.
PATTERN CUTTING: INTRODUCTION TO PATTERN CUTTING, beginner
In this course, you will learn basic pattern cutting skills by adapting a commercial pencil skirt pattern to your measurements, and cutting and sewing the skirt.
PATTERN CUTTING: CREATE YOUR OWN PATTERN BLOCK, intermediate
In this course, you will learn how to create a fitted pattern block for yourself. This basic pattern block can be used as a starting pattern for your future projects.
PATTERN CUTTING AND MANUFACTURING: POCKETS, beginner / intermediate
In this course, you will be able to design, pattern cut and manufacture a range of pocket samples.
CCN INDUSTRIAL SEWING MACHINE OPERATOR’S LICENCE
This course enables you to learn to maintain and operate industrial garment production machinery safely. You will be producing a range of samples demonstrating your technical manufacturing skills.
4 WEEK BAG MAKING, beginner
4 week beginners bag making workshop allows you to create a lined canvas bag with a inside zip pocket.
6 WEEK BASIC DRESSMAKING, beginner / intermediate
This 6 week dressmaking course allows you to create a simple shift dress using a commercial pattern.
10 WEEK OWN PROJECT WORKSHOPS, intermediate / advanced
This 10 week workshop is ideal for sewers with basic sewing skills or above, You will be working on your own project independently with support from and guidance from your tutor.
